Human resource based companies are more than your average companies are, but it takes a lot of work to become a spectacular payroll outsourcing company. A professional employer organization is the optimum solution for any company looking to reduce overhead and outsource their human resources department. These companies specialize in handling all forms of administrative tasks that businesses that are unwilling or unable to handle themselves. While most would see this as simply dealing with some paperwork, PEO’s are capable of so much more.

PEO

From the beginning, a payroll outsourcing company is, by definition, a company that handles other businesses payroll processing. This task involves taking on all of the payroll services for the primary business, including managing the hiring process, dealing with HR issues, paying employees, performing E Verify checks on potential employees, and handling employee benefits. This happens, not by simply handling the paperwork, but by actually being the hiring company for the entire workforce. Though this can be disorientating for a workforce when it first happens, they quickly get used to the new rules and work resumes normal function.

This method of owning another companies staff has been around for decades, but only recently has there been a correction of the laws surrounding it. As it turns out, during the mid to late 1900’s, PEO’s would take on a portion of another company’s workforce to allow that company an ability to avoid taxes and payment of workers benefits. This abuse of the system was fought against at the state levels, but many didn’t know that PEO’s were in existence or what type of loopholes of which they were taking advantage. It wasn’t until the turn of the century when the federal government stepped in and forced certain reforms from PEO’s that had been acting unscrupulously. However, even during the most problematic times, some payroll services companies held fast to promoting proper work ethic while driving their core values.

In the coming years, PEO companies will be finding a greater foothold in the business world as more companies are forced to outsource departments while being restricted to using American based employees. As more laws go into effect that restrict the methods businesses use to cut costs and stay afloat, they will need to look to these alternative methods for survival. While this will not guarantee success on its own, it could be the start of a modular business model that takes the world by storm.
